Ear Training/Music Theory
There is great debate over whether a musician needs to be able to read music, and that need depends largely upon what you want to be able to accomplish and the type of music you play.
What is undeniably important is understanding the structure of chord progressions, natural flow of melody and harmony, rhythm, and the ability to recognize pitch.
Training your ear and music theory are best learned hand in hand while receiving instruction in some sort of instrument. I recommend either Rocket Piano, Singorama (for vocalists) or Jamorama (for guitarists) because they have comprehensive music theory and ear training built into the course.
If you want a comprehensive, very concentrated course in ear training and music theory, check out Pitch Master Pro.
